Truck Petting Zoo

Our library held a truck "petting zoo" today. The city brought a snow plow and one of those huge electronic signs, water works was there, an ambulance, and two fire trucks. The kids got to touch, climb (sort of), and ask questions. It was fun, but it was a zoo (there were so many people!). Jolie got more pictures, which she posted here.

This is Fireman Tom (who made me promise his likeness would not appear in any publications - or he would have to buy ice cream for his whole station, a feat which he has managed to avoid for 31 years - I'm pretty sure this blog doesn't qualify as a "publication")

In the Water Works van, Exia and Charlie controlling the remote device (which is outside the van) that inspects all the cities water pipes

This is the remote device that the kids were controlling from inside the van

Here's the snow plow and a stop light - I thought it was cool to get to see a stop light up close, but the kids really did not care

Evidence of the mayhem around the fire truck - much later in the morning, they brought their back up fire truck and we got a more in depth view and some one on one time with Fireman Joe, but I didn't have my camera with me then (it was after you left Olmi's)

Mike has "zoo face" but Charlie looks so sweet, I decided to post anyways

Waiting in line to see the inside of the ambulance

This is EMT Kyle, who really liked Charlie's hair

Inside the ambulance listening to Fireman Bill

AJ, Peter, and Exia got their names on the giant electronic sign (they could only fit three names and the guy had a really hard time doing these, Mike surmised he must have been a supervisor, so we decided not to torture him in order to get the other three kids names on there)

And here are a few more from Jolie...

Exia really loves having her picture taken right now :)

I just don't feel like Jolie posted enough of this adorable series so I'm posting the whole thing here
