Surprises

The other night at dinner...

AJ: "Mom, what do you think about Batman?"
Me: (bewildered and trying to figure out what we're talking about...I didn't even know he knew who Batman was...) "Um, I don't know....."
AJ: "Well, like, do you LOVE Batman?"
Me: (still bewildered and trying to figure out what we're really talking about) "Um...no, I don't love Batman. I guess I'm sort of indifferent about Batman. What do you think about him?"
AJ: (in a huge smiley, excited voice) "Well, if I was getting myself a surprise, I would just get ALL Batman stuff for ME."
(I now see Andy just barely drop his head and shake it while suppressing a smirk)
Me: (Ah ha! A surprise, okay, I see what we're talking about now!)
Exia: "Do you want to know my way of not telling about a surprise? See, I just forget about it and then remember it when it's time! Isn't that clever?"
(Andy's now loosing his battle to suppress his chuckle...we make eye contact and smile :)
