Something(s) to Smile About

• AJ usually doesn't like sleeping in our bed. He never really has. Unless he's sick or teething. Even one night a few weeks ago when we were having one of those really violent thunder storms, I offered for him to come to our bed and he turned me down in favor of his bed where he was stretched out with all his animals and babies and blankies. I'm not sure what's going on now, but the last two nights, he's woken up, mid-night, crying and unable to go back to sleep...so he came to sleep in our bed! I love snuggling next to his warm, heavy body. He's just the right kind of snuggler, not too suffocating and not too distant. 

• Exia is sometimes (okay, maybe often) in a really bad mood when she first wakes up in the morning. It's like she wakes up scared and/or mad and comes tearing out of her room in a fit. Anything you say to her will escalate the fit and not saying anything at all will do the same. But the last two days, when she wakes up and comes crying to our room, she's seen AJ in our bed and instantly dropped the bad mood, instead cooing as she climbs in our bed, "Good morning Aaaa Jaaay, how did you sleep, do you want a hug?" 

• Both kids loving the In the Womb book from the library. Even the picture of a just delivered baby who hasn't yet been cleaned (I was worried it might freak them out)...nope, they love it, saying, "Oooooh, look at that messy baby!" Or the pictures of a baby in the first trimester, not looking much like a baby at all (again, worried it would freak them out)...nope, they instinctively knew it was a baby and just accepted as normal that's how babies look when they are first growing. They are loving looking at all the babies and imagining what our new baby is looking like in my belly right now!
