Tinker Toys at Work

Andy's team at work won their Tinker Toy competition! The team consisted of one engineer from each discipline (Andy represented Mechanical, although it was his last minute structural modifications that helped seal the deal).

The scope of work was to build the tallest night-light tower (a tower with a light bulb on top). Each night-light tower had to have a lifting system for raising and lowering a battery to power the light bulb. The structure had to be free standing and support the lifting system unassisted. The light bulb had to stay lit without assistance. And, the lifting system had to be designed for one-handed operation. Whew!

The winning structure was just under 10ft tall. Andy quickly added some masking tape guide wires at the last minute to help support their tower. CONGRATULATIONS on your Tinker Toy win, Andy! -Seriously, can you believe he gets paid for this?

I don't have a picture yet, but I will post one when I find one.
